Strategic location
In its strategic location close to motorways and rail connections, the Wholesale Market is the central point in the Øresund region for wholesale trading and distribution of fruit and vegetables, flowers and plants and associated products.
The Copenhagen Wholesale Market area
The market facilities were taken into use on 2 October 1958. In 2009 the total utilized area is 185,000 m2. There is a built-up area of 76,000 m2 and over 550 parking spaces, 70 of them under cover.
Number of firms
The entire building complex houses 128 firms altogether, with 61 in the market hall.
Turnover and volumes
Turnover is estimated to be about DKK 4 billion per year based on 650,000 tons.
Traffic
Approximately 2.500 units daily, 250-300 of them lorries
Refuse disposal
Refuse is sorted into fractions at a contracted-out refuse centre. 2000 tons per year approx. Collection of refuse and cleaning are carried out by the individual firms, employees of Copenhagen Wholesale Market and private refuse disposal companies.
Relations in the business area
Copenhagen Wholesale Market A/S is an active player in this business area both nationally and internationally. Thus the Copenhagen Wholesale Market is a member of the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM), a member of and secretariat for Nordiska Torg och Partihandelsförening (NTP), Dansk Gartneri (Nurserymen), Danske Prydplanter (ornamental plant growers) and the Danish Agricultural Council.
